What is our approach?

Our approach puts your child at the centre of the tutoring experience. Quite clearly, this is best achieved in a one-on-one environment, on a regular basis.

To do so, we tailor each highly personalised session to fit each individual student, as we seek to find the answers to three key questions with your child:

  1. WHY AM I LEARNING? (THE SYLLABUS)
  2. WHAT AM I LEARNING? (THE CONTENT)
  3. HOW CAN I APPLY WHAT I HAVE LEARNT? (THE EXAMINATIONS)

This “WHY/WHAT/HOW” system ensures that all aspects of the learning experience are understood by both tutor and student. That way, the right parts are given the right attention. We follow this approach because when we find the answer to these questions, the session customisation becomes most effective. For example, your child may understand the content (WHAT) throughout the term, but struggles to make effective notes (WHY) or achieve their potential in an exam (HOW). We take this all into consideration, ensuring that the session itself best reflects their needs whilst improving their strengths. That is the JPA approach.

We see tutoring as a cumulative process. Not as a quick fix, nor as a replacement for classroom learning. Instead, we build on the fantastic work that’s already done in the school system. The teacher introduces, explains, and tests the relevant information. What we do is build upon these foundations. The real achievement starts to emerge when your child transfers what they have learnt with us to the everyday classroom, assessment and examination contexts. Not only will they have better and more consistent results, they will also acquire a new skill set, transferrable to their stronger subjects and the learning process in general. They will achieve, and become more efficient at doing so.
