Who are our tutors?

The JPA team is a small group of enthusiastic and dedicated tutors, from a range of academic and professional backgrounds. Some of us are studying full-time, others are working, or taking a gap year. The core thing that unites us is our passion for education.

Every JPA tutor undergoes a vigorous pre-screening procedure. To ensure a top quality tutor for your child, all must satisfy or complete:

  • 98+ ATAR and/or top percentile university marks;
  • Comprehensive and relevant CV, with character references (at least one applicable to education);
  • 30 minute behaviour-based interview;
  • Compulsory observation and supervision period with a Senior Tutor present.

At this stage, the tutor will be qualified, ready and able to assist your child in the comfort of your home.

Every JPA tutor is also involved in some way with the NSW education system, including:

  • Classroom teachers
  • Childcare and Out of School Hours Care (OOSH)
  • Volunteer school support programs
  • Postgraduate research
  • Administration and policy

We also appreciate that the tutor/student relationship is not one-size-fits-all. Not every tutor is going to suit every student. So, based upon your answers to a series of simple questions when we first communicate, we will be able to match your child to an appropriate tutor. Apart from this, though, all JPA tutors are:

  • Recent high school graduates;
  • Clear, capable and patient communicators;
  • Highly responsive to questions and queries;
  • Knowledgeable in the “WHY, WHAT, HOW” approach (i.e. syllabus, coursework, application);
  • Flexible and willing to cater to slight changes in your timetabling needs.
